Bronze figurine of a youth wearing a crown from Berekla (modern Neda) in the Peloponnese. 530 B.C.

The youth wears a radiating crown of leaves and holds a cock, whose combative spirit and pugnacity makes it the symbol of the ideal warrior, athlete and lover. It is not impossible that the figurine was a dedication by a victorious athlete.
