¬ronze statuette of a peplos-clad maiden, from the region of Mount Pindos/northwestern Greece. 460-450 B.C.
The figure, with a long Doric dress over a pleated chiton with short sleeves, was probably holding a flower in her right hand. This symbol, combined with the pigeon in her left, leads to the identification of the figure with the goddess Aphrodite. The hieratic movement and dignity render rhythm to the body.
