The god is depicted in the shape of a handleless ovoid vase with a human head. Osiris-Canopus’ face is rendered with Greek features and wears the royal Egyptian nemes headdress.
Among the few extant statues of this type worldwide. At Canopus, a city in the Delta near Alexandria, the cult of Osiris-Canopus thrived in the 2nd century A.D. There, he was worshipped as a fertility god in this particular form: a vase with a human head.
