The marble grave stele of Aristion, work of Aristokles, found at Velanideza, Attica
ca. 510 BC.

Grave stele, made of Pentelic marble. It was found at Velanideza, Attica, along with its base. The stele was placed on the grave of an hoplite, Aristion, whose name is inscribed on the front of the base. The dead man is fully armed, wearing cuirass, helmet and greaves, and holding a spear in his left hand. According to the incription, carved on the bottom of the front side of the stele, the sculptor was Aristokles.
