Marble votive relief of an athlete, found at Sounion, Attica

Votive relief, made of Pentelic marble. It was found in Sounion, Attica, near the Temple of Athena. It represents an athlete crowning himself and was probably dedicated by a victor in local games. The wreath was made of metal and attached into the holes visible on the hair.
