Marble statuette of the god Asklepios, found in his sanctuary at Epidauros.
Late 3rd - early 4th c. AD.

Statuette of the god Asklepios, made of pentelic marble. It was found in the sanctuary of Asklepios at Epidauros. The god is depicted leaning to a stick, around which a snake, the animal sacred to him, is twisted. According to the inscription on its base, the statuette was dedicated to the god by the Athenian Ploutarchos, priest of Dionysos and Asklepios.
