MYTH AND COINAGE

A temporary exhibition presented concurrently at the National Archaeological Museum and the Numismatic Museum in collaboration with the Alpha Bank Numismatic Collection

The National Archaeological Museum, the Numismatic Museum and the Alpha Bank Numismatic Collection are joining forces for the first time and are organising the temporary exhibition MYTH AND COINAGE, which will be concurrently presented in both Museums.

The Exhibition highlights the relationship between the Greek Mythology and the coinage of antiquity and focuses on the depiction, management and use of myth on the faces of coins from the 7th century BC onwards.

Two complementary titles describe the content of the Exhibition at each Museum.
The Illustration of the Myth...>> will be presented at the National Archaeological Museum while The Use of the Myth...>> will be presented at the Numismatic Museum.

The Exhibition is curated by the Directors of the two Museums Dr Nikolaos Kaltsas and Dr Despoina Evgenidou and by the Curator of the Alpha Bank Numismatic Collection Dr Dimitra Tsanga
ri.

The Exhibition is accompanied by a fully illustrated catalogue-album in Greek and English versions, with introductory texts and entries on all the exhibits.
