NATIONAL ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM
THE ILLUSTRATION OF THE MYTH

The Exhibition at the National Archaeological Museum will present for the first time 261 coins from the Alpha Bank Numismatic Collection, which numbers more than 10,000 items and is considered as one of the most profuse and important private collections on an international level, 71 coins from the Numismatic Museum and 79 choice artworks from the collections of the National Archaeological Museum, sculptures, vases and examples of metalworking.

The protagonists of the Greek myths, the Dodecatheon, the Mythical Creatures, the Demigod Heracles, the Secondary Deities, the Heroes and the Mythical Stories comprise the five sections of the Exhibition, aiming to enhance and promote the mythological themes depicted on the faces of the coins during antiquity.

Events

Educational programmes intended for third, fourth- and fifth-grade pupils and for first- and second-year high school pupils will be conducted by Ms Nikoleta Xydea, an archaeologist of the Museum, during the Exhibition.
