European Heritage Days
Europe, a Common Heritage

Celebration in the National Archaeological Museum
23, 24 & 25 September 2011

The celebration of the European Heritage Days 2011 at the Greek Museums is devoted to Crises. Continuity and Discontinuity in History. The National Archaeological Museum participates with the following events:

1. A small-scale temporary exhibition titled “Transitional Periods in History and Archaeology” will be housed in Room 39, from September 23 to November 27, 2011.

2. The visitors of this special exhibition will be provided with a pamphlet recording more finds relevant to this topic from sections of the Museum’s permanent exhibition, traceable as they stroll through it. These objects are related with some political, social or economic events in a specific historical period (e.g. vase of the so-called “orientalised” style, 7th cent. BC)

3. Informative speech on this subject by an archaeologist will be released in the amphitheatre of the National Archaeological Museum on Friday 23 September 2011, between 12:00-13:00.
Free entrance upon request in advance.
